Transducers Handle Hazardous Environments

Pneumatic-to-current P/I transducers provide protection from conducted and radiated RFI.

ControlAir Inc. has introduced its P200 and P290 pneumatic-to-current P/I transducers. The new models are designed to convert standard 3-15, 3-27 or 6-30 psig air pressures into a two wire 4-20 or 10-50 mA signal with a total accuracy up to +/- 0.10%.

With a NEMA 4X housing designed for the hazardous environments of the chemical and petrochemical industries, mining or oil and gas fields, the explosion-proof P200 offers infinite resolution and response time of 10 m Sec for 99% of step change.

In addition, the P200 is FM-approved and CSA-certified as explosion-proof for Class I, Div. 1, Groups A, B, C, D; dust ignition-proof for Class II, Div. 1, Groups E, FG; and suitable for Class III, Div. 1 locations.

The industrial-grade P290 has the same features as the P200, but without the explosion-proof housing. A modular design allows panel or DIN rail mounting for individual or high-density applications. The P290 is intended for use in modern automated process systems of the pharmaceutical, semiconductor, paper and food industries.

The P200/P290 pneumatic-to-current P/I transducers require only a 10 VDC minimum power supply and provide protection from both conducted and radiated RFI from 20 MHz to 1 GHz. Because the solid-state design uses no moving parts and consumes no air, users can expect continued operation for one billion cycles in shock and vibration environments.
