In Chemical Processing’s 2014 Job Satisfaction and Salary Survey, we asked participants to answer numerous questions in order to better understand what's going on in the field and on the plant floor. Many charts appeared in the cover story 2014 Salary Survey Yields A Mixed Bag. But there were several charts that we couldn't fit into the hard copy. Below are those charts. Figure 1. If you work overtime or extra hours, what are the reasons?
Nearly 90% say they work overtime to get their work done.
Figure 2. What age group are you in?
Around one quarter of all respondents are at, or nearing, retirement age.
Figure 3. In your opinion, are you adequately compensated for your experience level and skills?
More than half of respondents feel their experience matches their compensation.
Figure 4. Are you bothered by the negative public opinion of the industry?
Similar to past surveys, nearly 40% are not bothered by any negative industry perception.
Figure 5. What is the professional staffing level at your site now versus 12 months ago?
Staffing levels show slight improvement from last year.
