Siemens Acquires Cambridge Water Technology

Feb. 1, 2012
Acquisition enhances technology offering for water and wastewater treatment systems.

Siemens Industry Automation Division has acquired Cambridge Water Technology, Cambridge, Mass., effective Jan. 24. With the acquisition, Siemens gains technologies that increase the rate of solids removal and enhance the capacity and contaminant removal performance of water and wastewater treatment systems.

Cambridge Water Technology offers solutions that require a smaller footprint and are able to increase the capacity of existing treatment systems by two to three times without adding any new tankage. The technologies also can manage high wet weather flows and enable enhanced nutrient removal at a reduced cost.

Suitable for use in new installations as well as upgrades and retrofits for a variety of municipal and industrial applications, the Cambridge Water Technology product line complements Siemens’ offer for biological wastewater treatment and clarification as well as drinking water treatment.

Cambridge Water Technology is expected to be combined with Siemens’ municipal wastewater business and will continue to operate out of Cambridge, Mass, while senior managers Charles Hamlin, Steve Woodard, and Andy Bishop join the Siemens business unit’s management team. The acquisition includes global technology rights, but excludes subsidiaries outside the United States.
