Honeywell Expands HUG Student Competition

Jan. 25, 2012
Entries now accepted from Korea, India, Japan, China, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand

Honeywell has expanded its annual Asia Pacific Honeywell Users’ Group (HUG) Student Competition. Launched in 2008 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and in 2010 in the Americas, the competition is designed to foster talent and uncover the next generation of process manufacturing and technology leaders from academic institutions around the world.

Students in Asia Pacific are challenged to use the Honeywell UniSim Design Suite to create a process design that could solve a critical plant business issue, which could involve issues such as efficiency, productivity, reliability, safety or the environment. The competition is open to any student currently enrolled in the engineering department of an accredited college or university in Australia, New Zealand, Korea, India, Japan, South East Asia or China.

A committee made up of experts in the field will select the winning team, who, together with the sponsoring tutor, will attend the HUG conference being held at Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Australia, in August to present their project. The winning students and their sponsoring tutors will be able to attend their choice of one of two advanced UniSim Design training courses. In addition, five consolation prizes will be awarded this year.

Submissions should be made online using a 300-word abstract and PowerPoint presentation, and must include details of the experiment, describe why the approach is innovative and the main benefits of the project. Deadline is April 30.
