Watlow's SERIES SD family of PID temperature controllers now features the TRU-TUNE+ adaptive control algorithm, which offers tighter control for demanding temperature/process applications in industries such as plastics, packaging, life sciences, process and semiconductor equipment manufacturing. The controller fine tunes thermal loops more precisely than typical auto-tune features, and provides stable control through set point and load changes, reducing scrap and rework even when conditions vary.
SERIES SD PID temperature controllers boast affordable pricing, performance and advanced features to suit a wide range of applications in temperature and process control.
These single-channel controllers include a universal sensor input with up to three outputs that can be programmed for heat or cool temperature control as well as process or deviation alarms.
Adding the TRU-TUNE+ adaptive control algorithm adds even tighter control, and also limits the need for users to be tuning experts or to call in a tuning expert, says Roger Weichers, product manager. This greatly simplifies the process for the user and adds peace of mind to the tuning process.
SERIES SD controllers have many other features and benefits including:
- EIA-485 Modbus serial communications;
- INFOSENSE sensor technology, which improves sensor accuracy by a minimum of 50 percent;
- Patented user definable menu system allows the user to select which parameters will appear in the operations menu;
- Save and Restore feature allows the user to save their settings or the factory settings. This feature eliminates the need to call the OEM or factory to restore settings.
The SERIES SD controllers are supported by WATVIEW, Watlow's Windows®-based HMI (Human Machine Interface) software. The software can be used to set up, monitor and edit the values of controller parameters, monitor and manage alarms and log and graph process data.
Available in 1/32, 1/16, 1/8 and ¼ DIN panel mount sizes, the SERIES SD products include UL®, C-UL®, CSA and CE certification and include a NEMA 4X (IP65) seal. The SERIES SD is manufactured in an ISO 9001-registered Watlow facility and is backed by an industry-leading three-year warranty.
