Victor Edwards, a member of Chemical Processing’s editorial board for more than a decade, is the 2015 recipient of the Norton H. Walton/Russell L. Miller Award from the Safety and Health Division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
The award recognizes outstanding achievements in and contributions to chemical engineering in the areas of loss prevention, safety and health.
According to AIChE, Edwards was instrumental in the creation of the annual Process Plant Safety Symposium, which is now a part of the Global Congress on Process Safety held annually as part of the Spring National Meeting of AIChE. He chaired the first Process Plant Safety Symposium in 1992 and the 1997 International Plant Operations and Design Conference. In 2013, Edwards chaired the AIChE Global Congress on Process Safety. He has contributed to more than 60 publications on engineering, including several book chapters and section 10 of the Chemical Engineers’ Handbook.
