Temperature Transmitter Offers Corrosion Measurement
The unit features an intelligent hot-sensor backup that switches to a secondary sensor in the event of a burnout, preventing unexpected downtime and loss of productivity. It also provides corrosion measurement, which allows maintenance to better predict the quality of their temperature sensors and their life expectancy.
The unit’s drift-detection feature enables the control room to evaluate temperature measurements over time and make better decisions concerning sensor stability. Automatic temperature range change switches the primary temperature measurement from sensor 1 to sensor 2-- a different sensor type-- which is accurate for a certain temperature range. In addition, corrosion detection as per NAMUR NE89 prevents export of incorrect measured values and issues a warning via the HART protocol when conductor resistance values exceed plausible limits.
