Rockwell Automation and its global solutions team has entered into an agreement with Vadxx Energy to provide process engineering solutions and services to help the company refine its proprietary process, which involves the manufacture of synthetic crude oil and natural gas using petroleum-based raw material feedstock wastes.
Under the agreement, Rockwell Automation will complete front-end engineering and design work to commercialize Vadxx’s proprietary processes by the end of 2011. After that time, both companies expect to enter into an engineering, procurement, and construction contract that will enable Rockwell Automation to manufacture Vadxx’s commercial production units in modular fashion to accelerate market implementation and refine quality.
According to Vadxx Energy CEO Jim Garrett, the company’s objective is to implement more than 100 commercial oil production units in the next five years, while the first commercial unit is expected to begin producing crude oil in late 2012. Vadxx also has signed memorandums of understanding to form joint ventures with various feedstock providers for its first three commercial production units in Northeast Ohio.
