AIChE Creates Institute for Sustainability

Oct. 7, 2004

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) launched the Institute for Sustainability (IfS) following final ratification of its charter by the AIChE board of directors.

AIChE formed the Institute to promote the societal, economic and environmental benefits of sustainable and green engineering in the chemical sciences. IfS will serve the efforts of engineers and scientists in industry, academia and government working in the emerging field of sustainability.

AIChE is one of the first professional engineering societies in the United States to provide a forum for the engineering community to discuss and advance solutions for sustainability development efforts.

Those interested in participating in the work of IfS can contact AIChE at (800) 242-4363, or visit www.aiche.org/sustainability.
