The American Chemistry Council has offered its support for the confirmation of Lee Zeldin as the administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The trade group, along with the Alliance for Chemical Distribution, submitted a joint letter dated Jan. 10 to the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works calling for Zeldin’s confirmation.
ACC has indicated that it’s hopeful the Trump administration will roll back burdensome regulations enacted during President Biden’s term.
“Mr. Zeldin’s impressive track record demonstrates his ability to effectively lead the EPA,” said Chris Jahn, ACC CEO. “We call on the Senate to confirm Mr. Zeldin’s nomination, enabling us to work together on science-based policies that promote innovation, support supply chain resiliency, and deliver responsible regulations to protect our environment and health while minimizing unnecessary burdens on U.S. businesses and hard-working Americans.”
Zeldin represented New York’s first congressional district from 2015–2023 and ran for governor in the state in 2022.
