Dow Chemical Co. Chairman and CEO Andrew Liveris will receive the SCI Chemical Industry Medal for his leadership in the chemical industry and manufacturing, The Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) and America International Group announced Jan. 3.
Liveris will receive the honor at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York March 12.
The SCI Chemical Industry Medal honors an individual whose leadership, commitment and contributions have been responsible for substantial progress and performance in the chemical industry. Liveris is the sixth Dow leader to receive the Chemical Industry honor since the Medal was established in 1933.
“Through his leadership, Andrew has built on Dow’s proud 115-year history and led its evolution into a chemistry based science company for the 21st century,” said Ellen Kullman, chair of SCI. “He has established himself as a leading voice in the chemical industry and is recognized as a thought leader for issues confronting advanced manufacturing in the U.S. and around the world.”
Liveris served as co-chair of President Obama's Advanced Engineering Partnership and is the author of “Make It in America,” a book released in January 2011 of proposed policy solutions for an advanced-manufacturing economy.
