PFAS Disclosure Law Moves Through California Legislature

AB2247 heads to Governor Newsom’s desk.
A measure requiring disclosure of “forever chemicals” moves to the governor’s desk after passing through the California legislature, according to an article from JD Supra. The legislation reportedly would require registration of all products sold, distributed or imported into the state of California containing intentionally added perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) by 2026.
Because the law isn’t restricted to certain industries like previous legislation, it has garnered opposition from industry groups and legislators on both sides of the aisle, according to the article. Governor Newsom can either sign or veto AB 2247 by September 30, 2022 or it will become law without his signature.
