Work on thermodynamics of bulk mixtures gets recognition
Dr. Ailo Aasen
The European Federation of Chemical Engineering has bestowed its 2021 Excellence Award for an outstanding PhD thesis to Dr. Ailo Aasen. His work focused on understanding and modelling the thermodynamics of bulk mixtures. Aasen did his thesis — “Bulk and interfacial thermodynamics of mixtures: From aqueous systems to ultracryogenic fluids” — at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim.
The Excellence Award, which includes a €1,500 cash prize, will be presented at the 31st European Symposium on Applied Thermodynamics, an online conference slated for July 4–7.
Many facilities handle dangerous processes and products on a daily basis. Keeping everything under control demands well-trained people working with the best equipment.
