Paper Provides Chemists With Advice on Numerical Libraries
March 15, 2011
Numerical Algorithms Group discusses wide range of research related to multicore processor developments.
A new report offers advice to chemical application developers on how and why they should consider using extensively documented numerical libraries.
In “The Benefits of Using Rigorously Tested Routines from Numerical Libraries” white paper, the Numerical Algorithms Group, or NAG, addresses concerns of chemists and chemical engineers, including those contending with slower performance of legacy applications originally developed for 32-bit processors that are now operating in 64-bit systems or supercomputer-level resources.
The subject matter discussed in the white paper addresses a wide range of finance, industrial, business, scientific research and engineering applications because of recent multicore processor developments and the emergence of GPU chips and widespread access to high performance computing resources.
Many facilities handle dangerous processes and products on a daily basis. Keeping everything under control demands well-trained people working with the best equipment.
