The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) is now affiliated with Bio-Process Systems Alliance (BPSA), an industry trade group that promotes the implementation of single-use biopharmaceutical manufacturing technologies.
“We welcome BPSA to our growing family of affiliate groups,” says SOCMA President and CEO Joseph Acker. “With this affiliation, SOCMA members around the world will be introduced to potential suppliers and customers in the biopharmaceutical processing industry.”
BPSA operated under SPI: The Plastic Industry Trade Association until October 2009, when the group announced plans to realign with the pharmaceutical and biotechnology business communities. The Washington, D.C.-based BPSA organization facilitates information exchange regarding single-use systems among suppliers, users, potential users and government agencies through education and sharing of best practices. Corporate members include film and resin suppliers, plastic equipment component manufacturers, contract testing laboratories, systems integrators and end-users.
BPSA is overseen by an 11-member Executive Board, chaired by Jerold Martin, Senior Vice President of Pall Life Science.
“We are pleased to have established ourselves with SOCMA as our new affiliate partner, and are looking forward to increasing the value of BPSA to current and new members over the next three years,” says Martin. “As an affiliated trade association under SOCMA, BPSA will benefit from the collective SOCMA staff resources, management and expertise.”
