Voters Want Protection From Chemicals And Will Pay More For It

A survey of registered votes finds broad agreement that the government require that products be proven safe before being put on the market.

New research indicates that Democrats, Republicans and Independent voters alike want the government to ensure the safety of the products they purchase even if it means they’ll pay more for those products, according to an article from Phys.org. A poll of 1,200 registered voters from Lake Research Partners reportedly finds broad agreement that the government require that products be proven safe before they are put on the market.

According to the article, voters are most concerned about chemicals ingested through water, food and food packaging. About half of voters reportedly believe the chemicals in food and consumer products have been tested for safety, though UCSF professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences, Tracey J. Woodruff, PhD., notes in the article that this almost always isn’t the case.
