Specialty chemical producer Nippon Shokubai America Industries Inc. announced several market-expansion moves last week to increase its solutions business sales by 30%.
The U.S. subsidiary of Osaka, Japan-based Nippon Shokubai Co. is making capital investments to its solutions business, which leverages research and development capabilities, to meet new customer demands.
This includes adding new employees and developing additional applications for existing chemical products, including its Aqualic polymers for commercial detergents. The company has also upgraded its two facilities with polymer products used for energy-saving building materials and will expand its production capability for emulsion resins.
The U.S. subsidiary produces 60,000 tons of superabsorbent polymers per year in its Houston, Texas, facility. The company’s Chattanooga plant supports the production of fine chemical products for use in concrete, emulsion resins and water-soluble polymers for detergents and dispersants.
“We’ve been focusing on expanding our B2B business and believe there’s still a lot of room to develop new applications by strengthening our local operations,” says Kenta Kanaida, resident, Nippon Shokubai America Industries. “To support this growth plan, we've increased the number of marketing professionals who are familiar with the local market and with customer challenges.”
