Cashco Opens New Research and Development Lab

Lab will provide the space to perform VCI product prototype testing.

Cashco has opened a new engineering lab at its headquarters in central Kansas in order to improve customer service and product delivery. In addition to relieving strain on the assembly area, it will enable R&D to produce parts by computer-aided manufacturing (CAD) and test longer piping systems.

According to Clint Rogers, general manager of Cashco’s valve division, the new lab will allow the engineering department to fabricate all its own prototype parts and relieve the machine shop of valuable fabrication time. It will also provide the space to perform VCI product prototype testing within the engineering lab.

Two extra-long workbenches will also allow technicians to better replicate a customer’s application and fine-tune the test setup. Finally, Rogers says the roomy floor plan and dedicated workstations will allow a variety of R&D projects to be performed simultaneously.

In the past year, Cashco additionally installed a vacuum form machine, giving the company the ability to manufacture its own thermoform plastic parts, such as diaphragms and weather hoods. In the meantime, they implemented electronic documentation of all orders, while archiving all previous paper files.
