The need accurate metering always pushes the advancement of flow instrumentation.

In the May column of Control Global Béla Lipták described some new fiber optic flow meters used for the subsea measurement of multiphase flows (oil, water, methane). Now he describes some other, more recent advances in the field of flow metering that occurred partly because of the need for transporting and accurately metering large quantities of oil and natural gas.
