Pump Systems Matter (PSM) the training subsidiary of the Hydraulic Institute (HI), announced the 2013 board of directors and officers during HI’s annual meeting. The new board will be primarily responsible for providing organizational oversight to PSM and guiding the direction of its strategic training plan.
Geoff Wickes, product manager for emerging technologies at the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, will remain chairman of the board for 2013. Additional PSM Board members include Dennis Wierzbicki, president, Grundfos USA; Robert K. Asdal, executive director, Hydraulic Institute; Dean Douglas, president, Dover Pump Solutions Group; John Miersma, president and CEO, Iwaki America Inc.; Mick Cropper, director, product development, Sulzer Pumps (US) Inc.; Ann Garbow, senior product portfolio manager, Xcel Energy; Bruce Lung, director of the industrial team, Alliance to Save Energy (non-voting member).
The board of directors approves and oversees all educational and training initiatives created by HI’s educational affairs steering committee. During 2013, PSM plans to offer nearly 50 webinars to the pump industry on subjects such as pump systems optimization, variable speed drives, slurry pumps, mechanical seals, rotodynamic pump acceptance testing, electronic data exchange and energy efficiency.
The next complimentary webinar, entitled “10 Ways to Save Energy in Pumping Systems” will provide participants with the top ways to improve energy efficiency in their pumping systems. The course will take place May 2 at 1 p.m. EDT.
PSM will also offer a hybrid course on “Pump Systems Optimization: Energy Efficiency & Bottom-line Savings.” The series consists of three self-paced online modules containing pre-work training and a live one-hour webinar to follow each module. The first live webinar session will take place June 3, the second session will take place on June 10, and the final session will be offered on June 17. Registration closes on May 30.
