The Heat Exchange Institute (HEI) releases Standards for Air Cooled Condensers, 2nd edition. The Standards for Air Cooled Condensers (ACCs) covers specification and design recommendations, along with performance and operational issues associated with air cooled condensers for power plant applications. The standard includes typical purchaser requirements and manufacturers’ experience. It also highlights the important design criteria for air cooled condensers.
HEI’s Air Cooled Condenser Section develops this standard and updates it as needed. The new edition includes relevant updates, revisions and clarifications to most sections. Metric units have been added, including metric units for all three tables on exhaust casing.
There are many different types of ACCs designed for various services. This standard applies only to two-stage vacuum steam condensers that are predominately utilized in power plant applications.
The publication of the new ACC Standard represents another step in HEI’s continuing program to provide standards that represent the latest technological advancements in heat exchange equipment. HEI is a non-profit trade association concentrating its efforts on the manufacturing and engineering aspects of steam surface condensers, closed feedwater heaters, power plant heat exchangers, liquid ring vacuum pumps, steam jet ejectors, deaerators, and air cooled condensers. Suggestions for improvement of the standard are welcome and should be directed to HEI.
