The German Catalysis Society (GeCatS) has awarded its 2020 Jochen Block Prize to Jan von Langermann of Rostock University, Rostock, Germany. The award, which aims to honor the achievements of young scientists, includes a €3,000 prize.
GeCatS cites Von Langermann work on integrated in-situ product separation in the biocatalytic enantioselective synthesis of amines. The group notes: “Jan von Langermann`s research field focuses on the direct implementation of crystallization, membrane and adsorption techniques in biocatalytic processes. With this concept he aims to overcome common limitations in biocatalysis such as undesired side reactions, inhibitions and thermodynamically unfavorable reaction equilibria.... He developed innovative reaction control systems. This enables [production of] important chiral components for organic and pharmaceutical chemistry in significantly higher yields.”
Many facilities handle dangerous processes and products on a daily basis. Keeping everything under control demands well-trained people working with the best equipment.
Enhance the training experience and increase retention by training hands-on in Emerson's Interactive Plant Environment. Build skills here so you have them where and when it matters...
