VeraSun Energy LLC, Brookings, S.D., broke ground at its 252-acre site in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Sept. 18 where the company will construct a grassroots 110-million-gal.-per-year ethanol plant. It is scheduled to be online in early 2006 and will process 40 million bushels of corn.
The facility will be one of the largest dry-grind ethanol plants in the United States. It will also produce 352,000 tons of distillers grain annually, enough to feed 660,000 head of cattle daily.
Many facilities handle dangerous processes and products on a daily basis. Keeping everything under control demands well-trained people working with the best equipment.
