Calculator Shows VFD Impact On Energy Efficiency, Carbon Emissions
Sept. 27, 2021
New energy savings calculator helps improve energy efficiency for the chemical industry.
Rockwell Automation introduces Energy Savings Calculator.
Electric motors are the driving force behind much production output. By using variable frequency drives (VFDs), companies can improve motor control performance and motor efficiency, and as a result lower their operating costs and improve their environmental performance, according to Rockwell Automation. Companies reportedly can calculate the potential savings that VFDs can bring to their chemical operations using the company’s new Energy Savings Calculator.
The calculator shows potential energy and carbon emissions savings specific to each electrically driven asset. Users answer a few easy questions about their application and the calculator will estimate the savings they can realize by switching to VFDs, according to Rockwell. The calculator is suited for applications in the chemical industry and elsewhere that involve electric motors not currently controlled by VFDs.
