Emerson Process Management has introduced a new "Smart Energy Initiative" in an effort to combine the company's knowledge of industrial energy with advanced energy management technologies to enable customers to leverage more renewable fuels, lower energy costs, and reduce emissions.
The global program includes Emerson's new Industrial Energy Group, which focuses on modernizing and improving powerhouse performance, as well as the introduction of "True BTU" technology, a patent-pending solution for calculating the actual BTU values of fuel sources that is able to make reliable energy production more predictable and repeatable.
Utilizing Emerson's suite of software and field control technologies, the initiative will focus on enabling powerhouses to create steam to power using the most available and affordable renewable or waste fuels. The technologies are designed to improve efficiency and reliability when using waste and other renewable fuels, which burn and deliver energy at variable and unpredictable rates.
Emerson's SmartProcess Boiler and SmartProcess Energy Management software are offered as a way to overhaul dated equipment and methodologies used by the majority of industrial powerhouses. In addition to adding real-time intelligence capabilities to the energy-generating process, SmartProcess technology also introduces a new approach to greenfield sites.
