Honeywell Releases Virtualization Support For Experion

Aug. 23, 2011
Virtualization can help improve availability of DCS systems and SCADA infrastructure.

Honeywell has launched virtualization support for its core product line, Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS) for both distributed control system (DCS) and SCADA applications.

For many of today's manufacturers, the process control environment requires separate servers to support different applications. Virtualization helps resolve this issue by allowing a single server to simultaneously run multiple operating systems and applications.

It also can improve reliability by insulating these operating systems from hardware changes, resulting in lower operating costs.

HPS' virtualization offerings are developed with VMware. These solutions can help manufacturing plants reduce PC hardware requirements and minimize the frequency and impact of operating system and hardware changes.
