KROHNE, Inc. introduces a Tantalum version of its OPTIMASS 7300 straight-tube Coriolis mass flowmeter. The single straight-tube meter, available with Tantalum wetted-flange material construction, is well-suited for the chemical industry and measures highly aggressive or corrosive fluids. The meter features no-hassle installation and increased performance in density and mass flow.
The Tantalum OPTIMASS 7300’s design makes it an affordable solution for the safe and reliable measurement of fluids that require glass-lined piping or glass-lined process vessels. Tantalum has similar chemical resistance as glass and is typically used with chemicals such as Hydrochloric, Sulphuric, Nitric and Phosphoric acids, or Bromine and Chlorine.
Tantalum is generally considered impervious to most fluids. The Tantalum used by KROHNE is an alloy called Tantalum Ta10W, which is comprised of 10 percent Tungsten and 90 percent Tantalum. Tungsten provides the additional tensile strength required to handle the stresses associated with straight-tube technology.
The corrosion-resistant Tantalum OPTIMASS 7300 contains Tantalum wetted-flange construction, allowing it to withstand harsh conditions, and only the measuring tube and the raises face of the process flange need to be made from Tantalum. The single straight-tube design is resistant to blocking or fouling, allowing the meter to handle high viscosity fluids with ease, as well as maintaining a high level of accuracy, even in the presence of entrained air.
Featuring KROHNE’s Adaptive Sensor Technology (AST), the OPTIMASS 7300 “tunes” itself, independent of external forces and fluid density, to produce an inherently balanced meter in demanding processes. It delivers accurate metering for a range of flow rates in seven different full-bore tube diameters (1/4 inch, 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch, 1 inch, 1 ½ inches, 2 inches and 3 inches).
