To avoid toxic chemical leaks into ground, chemical makers make use of overfill sensors for tanks and vessels, leak detection devices, proper drainage, alarms, and other such technologies. Cleanup efforts at older defunct sites also are underway to further protect and reduce potential environmental hazards.
