Honeywell International will expand an in-house training and development program to address needs for next-generation engineers, the company said.
The company developed a curriculum in 2009 that includes a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, and on-the-job training for young engineering prospects.
Honeywell graduates 40 engineers from more than 12 countries each year. This year the company expects more than 1,000 to graduate from its 23 automation colleges.
Among the program's offerings is the Junior Engineer Training Program, a one-year graduate development program that provides both technical and nontechnical job skills to newly graduated engineers through classroom instruction, on-the-job training and mentoring.
